#5 MORE BRUSHES! Really, I just want a 4HB pencil, why don't it look like a 4HB pencil ![]() I found simply resizing and changing flow or pressure a task that required a lot of tips to the top nav bar. Now I’m not saying that’s the gospel of how brushes are made but what and how Painter does to manipulate brushes to the point of defining hairs in a brush is obviously very complex and this can be seen in those immersive palettes their are to adjust and tweak. I’m sure Painter purist are hold their head high feel empowered stating that “no, their not the same, their natural media brushes” but it seems that all the other brushes in all the other painting apps seem to work basically the same being based on “stamps” which is basically an image that is manipulated to produce a brush stroke. ![]() #6 BRUSHES! They work nothing like Photoshop brushes or other drawing and painting apps I found simply moving things around could drag things done quickly. # 7 It at Graphic Designīeing a graphic designer and illustrator I called on Painter a few time to see if I could use it for the creation of magazine covers, full page ads and such and where I could have MAYBE gotten the projects finished that I had started in Painter but with the need for hi-res work, vector needs and typography needs I soon found my self giving up and diving into Photoshop or InDesign to finish these task. I see painter continues to get speedier but I always find those brushes that bring it to a crawl and yet I don’t see this behavior in any other drawing and painting app. Ok, I have been thru Painter upgrades and yes it continues to gain in speed, but it needs to and I’m sure it’s brush engine or engines are the culprit because it can be humming along you choose a heavy hitter brush and bring it into a hi-res canvas and things come to a crawl immediately and in the past it was make the brush unusable so it really didn’t matter what it did because it’s not doing it or at least not at the defined resolution. #8 Slow as Sh*t - did someone just drop a brick on my Mac Painter always has a non-standard feel to me, to that I mean it worked “differently” than other apps most notably Adobe products, and where that may not be a bad thing it does have your UI going in un-foreseen areas to the user and in fact they had to adapt more to the Adobe standard of files and UI tool sets to be more useful to Photoshop users and this was early on before photoshops dominate in the graphics field but recognizing Adobe’s dominance with their other tools such as Illustrator and having to work with them as much as possible. ![]() ![]() I would start working or really experimenting trying to figure things out and the more palettes I opened the more lost I got - numbers of hair in my brush, all those adjustments but never a good predicable behaving brush and a lot of the natural media brushes I actually don’t know the real counter part so it’s hard to determine the “realness” of the brushes but I have seen the work produced and it’s just amazingly realistic just not on my monitor - maybe my monitor was broke. OMG, The pallets stuffed with selections, what does this do, what does that do, what does any of this do and trying to remember where the pallet you just used is or the setting you used 27 steps back, It was always overwhelming. #10 A zillion pallets with a zillion selections in each I thought it would be most fitting to do a classic Late Night With David Letterman Top 10 List and start at number 10 and work to the almighty number 1 reason Why I Can't Stand Using Corel Painter For Anything! Alright then, let’s get started.

So I tried the Download/Pause/Restart/Pause/Restart/etc by pausing it every 500Mg while watching an episode of Walking Dead on my second screen. Shut down any background app that could interfere with a download (Dropbox, etc.). I had to update to the latest 7zip to decompress as it appears Steinberg is using the latest and greatest compression algorythms. It appears that a lot of (all?) the packages available through Download Assistant can also be downloaded at. I was actually able to downlad the big 30GB pack through my web browser. Is this a frequent type of problem?Īny help or comforting words would be greatly appreciated. I’ve even added the Download Assistent as an exception to the Windows Firewall (which I should not have to do but why not).Īs a new Steinberg customer (just recently got Cubase Artist) I’m kind of scared of having to fight to get a software AFTER I paid for it and with only user forums as customer support. Any idea what can be happening here? Why kind of trouble will I run into if the Download Assistant is not an option for me? However it seems to be possible to download through the web broswer. Steinberg website recommends we use the Download Assistant which obviously does not work for me. And yes my internet connection is good enough, I’m a software developer who regularly works from home with video conference and all. It sometimes fail quickly, sometimes gets near 10 GB but fail everytime. Problem is with the big 30GB Content download. Same error message every time (post title is the error message). Tried and tried to download it using the Download Assistant. ![]() Expanded RFID capabilities are easy to install and simple to use.Standard Serial, USB, Ethernet and Bluetooth features-as well as two open media slots-allows you to utilise non-standard connectivity options. Instead, designers reverted to gif animations (if they didn't forego using motion graphics altogether) and JavaScript for widgets. However, because Flash required a plug-in, many web developers avoided using it for fear of limiting their market share due to lack of compatibility. At the time, the Flash content development tool was relatively simple compared to now, using basic layout and drawing tools, a limited precursor to ActionScript, and a timeline, but it enabled web designers to go beyond the point of HTML, animated GIFs and JavaScript. In 1996, Flash (originally known as FutureSplash) was developed. This allowed HTML code to be semantic rather than both semantic and presentational and improved web accessibility, see tableless web design. CSS was introduced in December 1996 by the W3C to support presentation and layout. GIF images to stop empty table cells from collapsing. To create complex designs, many web designers had to use complicated table structures or even use blank spacer. HTML sites were limited in their design options, even more so with earlier versions of HTML. At this time, as design and good aesthetics seemed to take precedence over good markup structure, little attention was paid to semantics and web accessibility. However, designers quickly realized the potential of using HTML tables for creating complex, multi-column layouts that were otherwise not possible. The HTML markup for tables was originally intended for displaying tabular data. It was also the first browser to support style sheets, which at the time was seen as an obscure authoring technique and is today an important aspect of web design. In 1996, Microsoft released its first competitive browser, which was complete with its own features and HTML tags. On the whole, the browser competition did lead to many positive creations and helped web design evolve at a rapid pace. During this time there were many new technologies in the field, notably Cascading Style Sheets, JavaScript, and Dynamic HTML. From 1996 to 1999 the browser wars began, as Microsoft and Netscape fought for ultimate browser dominance. For example, Netscape 1.1 included tags for changing background colours and formatting text with tables on web pages. Netscape created its own HTML tags without regard to the traditional standards process. that later became known as Netscape Communications, the Netscape 0.9 browser. In 1994 Andreessen formed Mosaic Communications Corp. The W3C continues to set standards, which can today be seen with JavaScript and other languages. The W3C was created in October 1994 to "lead the World Wide Web to its full potential by developing common protocols that promote its evolution and ensure its interoperability." This discouraged any one company from monopolizing a propriety browser and programming language, which could have altered the effect of the World Wide Web as a whole. There had been no integrated approach to graphic design elements such as images or sounds. At the time there were multiple browsers, however the majority of them were Unix-based and naturally text-heavy. In 1993 Marc Andreessen and Eric Bina, created the Mosaic browser. Text-only HTML pages could be viewed using a simple line-mode web browser. From 1991 to 1993 the World Wide Web was born. In 1989, whilst working at CERN Tim Berners-Lee proposed to create a global hypertext project, which later became known as the World Wide Web. It helped users find the information they needed. In November 1993 ALIWEB was the first ever search engine to be created (Archie Like Indexing for the WEB). In early history, the structure of the websites was fragile and hard to contain, so it became very difficult to use them. Eventually, Web designers were able to find their way around it to create more structures for the websites. Back in the day websites were structured by using the main purpose was to create numbers on the website. ![]() The only color that was on the website was blue and the only enjoyable thing on that website. ![]() The web was announced on August 6, 1991, and CERN was the first website to go live on the world wide web. In November 1992, Cern was the first website to ever launch to go live. It is hard to imagine the Internet without animated graphics, different styles of typography, background, videos and music. It has become a large part of people's everyday lives. Although web design has a fairly recent history, it can be linked to other areas such as graphic design, user experience, and multimedia arts, but is more aptly seen from a technological standpoint. ![]() Still, having trouble getting knocked off yourself? Whirlpools will only ever be up to three at a time, while the Violent Wind Barriers will only go up to two at a time.
